What happened to innovation? Nothing much has changed. And though things look different, the quo has just been rearranged. There’s forty seconds remaining in regulation time. Eastern in response (something something) you’re (something something blah) subliiime!!!!!!!

YES! This station meant a lot to me as an early teen and budding musician in Atlanta in the mid-80s. We didn’t have cable, so when they switched to TV69 it was a revelation. I guess it was already starting to decline, but they still played Laurie Anderson, Wall of Voodoo, Kate Bush and countless others that I still love today. I remember Cousin Brucie trying to get rid of an Ozzy record. He was so disgusted by it and didn’t mind if you knew.

And look at Pylon! Hooray!

Try Gordon Quinn with Kartemquin Films in Chicago. He was the sound recordist on the film and I believe worked with Shea’s son on the DVD reissue.

Hi Steve,

That is very sad and ironic. I had a feeling he was no longer with us. Thank you so much for information on his son. Do you know his name? I’ve tried Google to locate Shea or relatives but his name is some what common so it’s difficult to know if they are relatives.

I went to the park when I was 6 years old. I still have the amusement park map and a very cool and colorfol postcard. I’m sure they will make their way onto eBay soon! I loved the Carousel and the huge escalator. I don’t remember much else!

Mike Shea died in 1995 filming a helicopter sequence for a rock music video. Extra sad because he supposedly hated rock music. I think Shea’s son helped with the DVD re-issue of And This is Free, so he might be a good person to contact in regard to Mike’s Ebony pictures.
